This book takes a deep and lively dive into the intersection of math and art, how artists are inspired by math, and math types express their passion through art. Beautifully and elegantly written, this book tells tales I wouldn't have thought to imagine, and does so with out the stodgy gravity of Math and art book textbook.

Very well done, and recommend this /5(23). This book is definitely different than most other math books. It uniquely combines art & math using games and art projects to illustrate math concepts. We used this in combination with Vihart (youtube) videos ~ which move quickly, but are interesting, even for math students who are less interested in math.

Of the books in this series, Math-terpieces makes the most direct connection between math and art. The book uses illustrations and poetic riddles to encourage children to solve math problems by seeking patterns, symmetries, and convenient groupings.

As a page read-aloud, it obviously cannot cover as many specific math topics as my book. I wouldn’t recommend a coloring book as a substitution for hands-on math art projects or the other math art books on this list, but as a supplement, it is gorgeous.

Cross disciplinary learning is the best and you will find a couple of math art projects, plus more in. Math Art: Hands-On Math Activities for Grades 2, 3, and 4.
